History

The Athletic Department has long been an important part of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). In 1996, the Athletic Department was upgraded to a first-level administrative office to provide better service to the NTNU community. Under the Director, the Athletic Department has five divisions:

  1. Sport Activity Division: Responsible for sport and physical activity events for students, faculty, and staff.

  2. Athletic and Training Division: Responsible for athlete recruitment, training, competition and other necessary support for all varsity teams.

  3. Sport Facilities and Equipment Division: Manage all sport facilities and equipment for the main campus.

  4. Athletic Department Gongguan Division: Manage all sport facilities and equipment for the Gongguan campus.

  5. Athletic Department Linkou Division: Manage all sport facilities, equipment, and sports activities for the Linkou campus.

The Athletic Department organizes annually the Track and Field Meet, Swimming Gala, staff sport classes and various athletic events to promote physical activity and sports within the university. In line with the national sport policy, several sport teams are formed and long term regular training programs are in place to develop elite athletes. To reach the goal of Sport For All, in such a way that campus life is vibrant and active, all sport facilities and equipment are made available to all students, faculty, staff and community members to use for physical activity and recreation.
